Crux Fermentation Project hasn’t been known to just stick with the norm. So in the spirit of unique collaborations, the brewery is doing a 10-day pop-up pub in Portland, Oregon.
Partnering with Function (a venue that hosts different brands throughout the year) made it easy for the setup to work. With a fully operational bar, the venue hosts brewers, winemakers and distillers looking for a spot to showcase their products.
“Function makes it easy for us versus trying to move into an empty space for a short period of time,” Brand and Marketing Manager Jason Randles said. “We’ll roll in and decorate but they make and install all the signage, order the beer from our distributor, and provide the staffing. We picked the dates based on the timing of our fresh hop and special fall beer releases.”
Crux will have six taps, along with 24 different bottles and cans available from October 4-13 every day beginning at 2 p.m.
Portland was chosen as the site, Randle said, because of Crux’s continued success in the Portland area already.
“In this case, Portland chose us,” he said. “We have a great fan base there so we wanted to do something like this for a long time.
“When we found out about Function and their program to host different breweries throughout the year, we reached out immediately for the chance to partner with them.”
If he were to find another venue in a different city or state that allowed this type of event, Randles said he would entertain the idea.
“We’re very curious to see how well it goes,” Randles said, “but if the response on our initial social media posts is any indication, it should be quite successful.”
