Point Uncaps Hoptastic

Point Hoptastic, brewed with a combination of Centennial, Citra and Cascade hops, joins the Stevens Point Brewery‘s year-round craft beer line-up this month.

The American-style pale ale is rolling out during June in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles, on draft, and in can packages perfect for outdoor fun: 12-packs and six-packs of 12-ounce cans wherever Point beers are sold.

Hoptastic represents the return of an American-Style Pale Ale to the brewery’s year-round portfolio. The Stevens Point Brewery, which pioneered the art of making craft beer in Wisconsin, introduced Point Pale Ale back in 1995, later renamed Point Cascade Pale Ale. Pale ales are having a resurgence in the craft-beer segment, according to Julie Birrenkott, Point Brewery Director of Marketing, who noted Hoptastic is a modern, bolder take on this trending beer style, with a 5.4% ABV and 40 IBU.

“We’ve come a long way since offering Point Pale Ale 24 years ago. Many beer lovers urged us to brew Pale Ale again,” Birrenkott said. “We love to give our Point fans what they’ve been asking for – the return of a hoppy, distinctive (and fantastic) American Style Pale Ale. We are very pleased to fulfill their wishes.”

“Hoptastic is brewed and dry hopped with Citra and Cascade hops for a crisp hoppy character,” said Mike Schraufnagel, Stevens Point Brewery Brewmaster. “It is a true-to-style Pale Ale, with a medium body built on two-row and Munich malts. We’ve just introduced Point Hoptastic, but already it’s one of my personal favorites.”
