Former Local Radio Host to Write Book About History of the Stevens Point Brewery

The story of one of the oldest breweries in America will finally be presented in a new book authored by a former Central Wisconsin radio personality.

John Harry, morning show host on WYTE/106.5 until this past July, will share his love for beer history and Point Beer in The Stevens Point Brewing Company, due out next holiday season through Arcadia Publishing.

Harry, currently a history graduate student at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, says of the upcoming publication, “I am honored to have the opportunity to help preserve the story of the historic Point Brewery. I’m excited to dive right into the research and see what interesting stories turn up!”

Point Brewery Marketing Specialist Brian Elza adds, “When Arcadia approached us about the book, we knew exactly who to ask. John gave two sold-out history presentations at Point Brewery in 2017, and he is incredibly passionate about historical research and beer culture.”

The book release is part of a larger effort to commemorate the history of the 162-year-old brewery. In 2018, Point Brewery donated a large amount of its archives to the Portage County Historical Society, doubling the amount of the Point Brewery collection currently held at the University of Wisconsin– Stevens Point.

Upon its release in winter 2019, the book will be available for purchase in the Stevens Point Brewery gift shop, various other retailers in Stevens Point, and at arcadiapublishing.com. Additionally, more details will be released with information on a release party and book signings.
