Tröegs Independent Brewing announces the release of LolliHop, a soft and pillowy Double IPA with notes of citrus, pear and a hint of melon.
The inspiration for the beer begins in the hop fields of Yakima Valley, Washington, during our annual pilgrimage to this hop-growing hotbed. “We’re like kids in a candy store,” explains Tröegs brewmaster John Trogner. “We eyeball the hops, crush them in our hands and rub them til their oils fill the air.”
LolliHop worked its way through our small-batch Scratch Series, starting with Scratch #327, an IPA hopped with Citra and Mosaic, back in May 2018.
Locally harvested rustic pale malt from Double Eagle provides the backbone, and wheat and oats make this beer silky smooth with a touch of haze.
The otherworldly label art was dreamed up Baltimore, MD-based artist and Art of Tröegs alum Devin Watson, who was a runner-up in last year’s contest. The contest, currently under way, encourages fans to create an original piece inspired by Tröegs artwork, beer and our brewery.
LolliHop is rolling out on draft and in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans to all Tröegs markets over the next two weeks.
