Jack Dyer, Founder/CEO, Topa Topa Brewing Company — Ventura, California

BREWER: What inspired you to start your brewery, and how has your original vision evolved over time?
DYER: I was inspired to start Topa Topa with my business partner by a desire to produce something that we could build a community around. Beer brings folks together so we wanted to brew great beer and serve it in hospitable taprooms with a message behind it. Topa Topa was a simplification project for us, a company focused on doing good in our communities.

BREWER: What has been your most successful strategy for navigating challenges like rising ingredient costs or economic downturns?
DYER: Having very strong relationships with our suppliers has been paramount for us as we navigate any number of challenges that we face. It all starts and ends with relationships.

BREWER: In the face of an evolving craft beer landscape, what significant changes have you noticed, and how has your brewery adapted to remain relevant?
DYER: In wholesale, we rely heavily on data and establishing solid connections with our distributor partners. Building trust and executing on our plans help us ride the ups and downs of a volatile market together. Relying on data to send our limited team into the market with is helpful and keeps us efficient.

BREWER: What are you sippin’ on right now from your brewery that you really enjoy?
DYER: I probably have a pint of our flagship Chief Peak IPA everyday. But I’ve also been loving our Sespe Pilsner lately, it’s such a refreshing beer to enjoy this time of year in California.
