How Guggman Haus Seeks Hospitality with Engineered Innovations to Have People Return Again & Again
Guggman Haus Brewing has never treated food as a secondary revenue stream or beer as the only reason to visit. Instead, the Indianapolis brewery has looked to steadily build an experience where guests can settle in for an afternoon or evening, moving naturally from coffee to beer to a meal without feeling rushed.
That philosophy has only become more intentional as the brewery expanded beyond its original 1916-built home seven years ago into the neighboring Boyle Racing headquarters for its primary taproom and production facility while transforming the original space into a coffee house connected by a shared patio.
The result is a destination where multiple parts of the business reinforce one another, helping the brewery create longer visits, stronger customer loyalty and more opportunities for revenue without losing its identity as a craft brewery.
That balancing act has been part of Guggman Haus’ vision since identical twin sisters Courtney Guggenberger and Abby Gorman, along with their husbands Derek (married to Courtney) and Ryan (married to Abby), founded the brewery in 2015 after years of the quartet homebrewing together. Influenced by traditional German beer culture and Denver’s neighborhood brewery scene, the founders spent several years refining recipes before opening Guggman Haus in 2019. As the business grew into the larger adjacent building in 2021, the founders resisted the temptation to become simply another restaurant with brewing equipment.
