Free Time Lager New Addition for Upland

Upland Brewing Company announces the release of its new beer, Free Time. This Vienna-style lager delivers a smooth, crisp, perfectly balanced malt and hop profile with a clean finish, making it ultimately enjoyable for a shift beer or any other time that comes well deserved. Free Time will be available in a new format for Upland, coming in 15-packs of 12 ounce cans. Fans in the midwestern distribution area can try it first on draught starting in July at Upland locations and select accounts and can expect to stock their fridges early August.

“Free Time lager is bright copper in appearance with a perfectly balanced malt and hop profile. We’ve selected high quality base malts to provide light biscuit and caramel flavors, which are complemented by spicy, noble hops. It has low bitterness and drinks slightly sweet, yet finishes crisp and dry,” said Pete Batule, VP of Brewery Operations.

The malt flavor is clean, bready-rich, and somewhat toasty, with an elegant impression derived from quality base malts and process, not specialty malts and adjuncts. Nugget, Mt. Hood and Vanguard hops are used for their herbal, earthy hop aroma and flavor. Augustiner Lager yeast was chosen for its low sulfur production and its soft elegant flavor.

Free Time was brewed to be both flavorful and highly drinkable, clocking in at 4.7% ABV and 25 IBUs. The idea behind this beer centers on taking back your own time.

“Free Time makes for a great refrigerator beer. This is the go-to when you want to grab a shift beer with coworkers or for those times when your neighbor drops by to ‘return a tool he borrowed,’”said Upland President Doug Dayhoff. “We wanted to brew this sessionable beer just in time for summer to let you kick back and enjoy it.”
