Tröegs Independent Brewing ushers in the fall season with the return of its perennial fall favorite, Master of Pumpkins.
Each year, the independent, family-owned brewery begins by sourcing the 3,000 pounds of Pennsylvania-grown longneck pumpkins needed to brew the beer.
“To me, a pumpkin beer should use real pumpkins,” explains Tröegs co-founding brother and brewmaster John Trogner. “Fortunately for us, Pennsylvania has the perfect climate for growing them. We love using ingredients we can find right in our own backyard, and we think our fans appreciate this beer’s connection to local agriculture.”
After the harvest, the pumpkins are delivered to the brewery and the Tröegs team cleans, slices, roasts, and purées the pumpkins before adding them directly to the mash tun at the start of the brewing process.
“It takes a lot of work to bring this beer to life, but it really is a labor of love,” says Trogner.
Subtly spiced with cinnamon, clove, ginger, and nutmeg, Master of Pumpkins delivers the time-honored flavors of the season and provides warm comfort on the cool autumn nights ahead.
Master of Pumpkins is available on draft and in 16-oz. cans everywhere Tröegs beer is sold. Beer drinkers can find this and other beers near them using the Tröegs Brew Finder.
