2021 Craft Beer Marketing Awards to be Announced Live Online May 18

The 2021 Craft Beer Marketing Awards (CBMAs) “Crushie” winners will be announced in a LIVE virtual ceremony to take place on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 3 p.m. ET on Facebook LIVE.

“We were so impressed by the sheer creativity, innovation, and caliber of marketing displayed in entries from around the world in every category,” said CBMAs Co-Founder Jim McCune, “More than 300 Judges from around the world had their work cut out for them this year. Critiquing 32 Categories for each of 5 Global Regions, as well as the all-new CBMAs Global Award. The Judges had it tough, they really had to split hairs!”

The CBMAs is the first awards program of its kind. It is a worldwide competition that focuses specifically on excellence in the creative marketing and packaging efforts of craft beer that play an increasingly critical role in differentiating brands in the retail marketplace. Marketers Jim McCune and Jackie DiBella, who saw a need to recognize and award the very best marketing in the rapidly growing craft brewing industry across the nation and now the world, developed the CBMAs.

For its second year, the CBMAs expanded its panel of judges. Additionally, hard seltzer, ciders and mead are now included in the competition, while entries are now accepted from around the globe. A total of 196 awards will be presented to brewers, designers, and agencies from throughout the world. This year there are 65 Platinum Crushie winners, 117 Gold Crushie winners and 14 Silver (Global) Crushie winners. The public can view the ceremony, streamed LIVE, on the CBMAs’ Facebook page.

Starting in October of 2020, breweries, their agencies, designers, and marketing partners were invited to enter their top work. The 2021 CBMAs consisted of 32 categories evaluated by a panel of over 300 industry professional judges that cover all aspects of brew marketing—from labels to logos and tap handles to taprooms. Most notably new for this year’s competition are two special categories that reflect recent events: “Pandemic Marketing,” which looks at original marketing undertaken during the COVID-19 outbreak, and “Human Rights,” to celebrate those who support the fight for equality for all via different forms of marketing and design.

Entries were divided up into five regions across the globe:
• The Americas
• UK
• Europe
• APAC – Asia and Pacific (including Australia and New Zealand)
• MENA, Africa and Beyond

About the “Crushie”

Winners receive the CBMAs’ “Crushie,” which is designed by the same Manhattan-based awards firm that created the Emmy Award and MTV “Moonman” Trophy. The “Crushie” award is sculptured to depict a heavily tattooed arm crushing a beer can as a representation of how breweries are “crushing it” with their unique and creative beer marketing and branding. Platinum and Gold Crushies will be awarded in each region. Additionally, a newly designed Global Crushie will be awarded to those who opted-in to be judged at the global level in addition to being nominated as a regional entry.
