Brew Review: Connecting with Local Music Fans — Bent Paddle Brewing

Bent Paddle has been able to partner with internationally renowned American bluegrass/folk-rock band Trampled by Turtles to release a Duluth, Minnesota hometown collaboration beer called Trampled — American Golden Ale.
The six-year-old brewery and the band began their partnership in 2018 by brewing a version of this beer for the Turtle’s 2018 Bayfront Festival Park concert. The recipe was crafted between the band and the brewers to find what Bent paddle called “the perfect concert beer.”
Erik Berry, Trampled by Turtles’ mandolin player said in a release that it was a really fun collaboration.
“We are excited to have this approachable beer made by a Duluth hometown brewery out this summer,” he said.
Bent Paddle co-founder Karen Tonnis pointed out that the band was looking for something lower in alcohol content but full of flavor — a beer consumers could enjoy while they were at a concert.
Starting in just draft, with the success of the beer at the 2018 concert, both groups decided to join together again, this time packaging the beer into six-pack boxes and making it available in all the Bent Paddle distribution areas — including some temporary distribution alongside the band’s 2019 tour schedule.
“Just like the Turtles, this beer is incredibly balanced and in-tune. We are excited for our cans to be the perfect opening act,“ added Bent Paddle co-founder Colin Mullen.
