Bent Paddle Brewing Co. held their sixth annual Festiversay event on Saturday, May 11 where over 3,500 folks were able to try Trampled – American Golden Ale for the first time before its official release into the general market this week. The beer is available now through summer in all of Bent Paddle’s distribution territories – Minnesota, North Dakota and parts of Wisconsin – as well as a limited release in Colorado in June and July at select locations.
“We are excited to have this approachable beer made by a Duluth hometown brewery out this summer – it’s been a really fun collaboration” says Erik Berry, Trampled by Turtles’ mandolin player. Trampled – American Golden Ale is 4.6% ABV with a golden/straw color with a not-too-sweet malt profile and is dry-hopped for a fresh hop flavor on the end.
“Just like the Turtles, this beer is incredibly balanced, and in-tune. We are excited for our cans to be the perfect opening act,” said Bent Paddle co-founder Colin Mullen.
Bent Paddle Sales Director Brent Rowe added: “Bent Paddle and Trampled by Turtles fans alike will be able to find this beer in six-packs at liquor stores and on draft at bars and restaurants from May through September wherever our beer is sold including a mid-summer limited release in Colorado!”
The brewery and the band began their partnership last year by brewing a version of this beer for the Turtle’s 2018 Bayfront Festival Park concert. The recipe was crafted between the band and the brewers to find the perfect concert beer – and Trampled – American Golden Ale was the result. “The band was looking for something lower in alcohol content but full of flavor – a beer you could enjoy while you were at a concert” says Bent Paddle Co-Founder Karen Tonnis.
With the success of the beer at the 2018 concert, both groups decided to join this year to package the beer in 6-pack boxes and make it available in all the Bent Paddle distribution areas – including some temporary distribution alongside the band’s 2019 tour schedule.
