Angel City Is Back to Celebrate California State Fruit with Avocado Ale

This August 11 and 12, Angel City Brewery will be hosting their annual Avocado Fest. Now in its 6th year, the weekend will honor the California state fruit and celebrate the annual release of Avocado Ale. The hazy, straw-colored, Kölsch-style ale has an ABV of 4.2 percent and will be available exclusively at the Angel City Public House. The beer releases in 4-packs of 16 oz. cans a day early, on Friday, August 10th, starting at noon.

The two-day celebration kicks off on Saturday, August 11 at 11 a.m., with music, food and plenty of Avocado Ale to go around, and runs through Sunday, August 12 until 8 p.m. Headlining Avocado Fest this year is prolific hip-hop artist, Mac Lethal.

“Avocado Fest has really grown over the years. What started as a small celebration of a quirky Avocado Beer, has really evolved into something people uniquely identify with Angel City,” Keith McEly of Angel City said. “We’ve always been proud of this beer and this festival, but this year it’s going to be better than ever! This year, we’re kicking it up a notch with headliner, Mac Lethal.”

Angel City works with local, family-owned, Fillmore-based King & King Ranch, raising and hand- selecting avocados for the beer. Utilizing a dry-guac technique, the ale is comprised of fresh avocado, honey, cilantro and lime juice. Keeping freshness top of mind, Avocado Ale drinkers are encouraged to enjoy the beer within 30 days of the launch date.

The 2018 Avocado Fest will feature live music, delicious eats, including an AvocaToast Bar by Lizzy, and of course, beer. For more information on the celebration of all things avocado, see the schedule below.
