Upslope Releases Lee Hill Series Vol. 15 — Dry-Hopped Brett Saison

Upslope Brewing Company, the Boulder-based brewer, today announced its first small-batch, limited Lee Hill Series beer of the year–Volume 15: Dry-Hopped Brett Saison.

An installment of Upslope’s Lee Hill Series of brews, which are released quarterly, the Dry-Hopped Brett Saison is a product of barrel aging, can-conditioning, and a unique combination of wild yeasts and hops.

Last summer, Upslope stashed away its Champagne Saison into an assortment of freshly emptied wine barrels and pitched Brettanomyces Claussenii yeast. After aging in the barrels for seven months, this funky Saison was dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin hops and naturally carbonated with champagne yeast inside each can. The Dry-Hopped Brett Saison’s crisp malt character and tight tannins complement its notes of pear, white wine, and pineapple.

“We have had great success with our mixed-culture Lee Hill Series releases,” said Sam Scruby, Upslope’s head brewer. “With the Dry-Hopped Brett Saison, we wanted to follow in the footsteps of some of our favorite American and Belgian brewers who utilize natural carbonation as the final way to emphasize the character of the Brettanomyces.”

Available now, while supplies last, the Dry-Hopped Brett Saison will be offered in 19.2 ounce cans at Upslope’s two Boulder tap rooms and across Upslope’s distribution region of the Rocky Mountains and southwestern United States. Those looking to try this beer on tap can attend Upslope’s Lee Hill Series Release at their Lee Hill tap room on Thursday, March 22nd from 5-9 pm.
