Time for a Beer Run? Ohio Brew Haul Returns July 1-3

The Ohio Craft Brewers Association is bringing back Ohio Brew Haul in 2021, a campaign to encourage craft beer drinkers to stock up from their local breweries in advance of the Independence Day holiday.

Last year, while breweries, bars and restaurants were closed during the early stages of the pandemic, Ohio’s craft breweries kept themselves afloat by pivoting to carry out and delivery beer sales. Ohio Brew Haul was originally launched by the Ohio Craft Brewers Association in May 2020 to promote those to-go options for craft beer drinkers who were unable to enjoy pints in their favorite brewery taprooms.

This year’s Ohio Brew Haul runs from Thursday, July 1 through Saturday, July 3, giving craft beer fans ample opportunity to stock up for their Independence Day gatherings. Ohio Brew Haul was planned to coincide with National Beer Run Day, the Brewers Association‘s countrywide effort to promote to-go beer sales from independently-owned breweries on July 3.

From July 1-3, craft beer fans are encouraged to post photos of their Ohio beer purchases to Instagram with the hashtag #OhioBrewHaul. Ten photos will be chosen throughout the three-day period and those lucky Ohio Brew Haulers will receive prizes provided by the Ohio Craft Brewers Association.

Orders for limited edition Ohio Brew Haul merchandise will be taken until July 5 at https://ohiocraftbeer.org/shop. Purchasers will be eligible to earn five bonus stamps on the Ohio On Tap brewery passport app. Revenues from merchandise sales are a fundraiser for the Ohio Craft Brewers Association, the non-profit trade group that works to promote, preserve, diversify and unify Ohio’s craft brewing industry.

“Craft breweries enrich local communities in so many positive ways,” said Ohio Craft Brewers Association executive director Mary MacDonald. “Ohio Brew Haul is a fun way for craft beer enthusiasts to celebrate the independence of our nation while enjoying the world class beer made by independent breweries right here in Ohio.”

There are craft breweries operating in 69 of Ohio’s 88 counties, adding up to more than 370 independently-owned breweries in the state.
