Oskar Blues Supports Conservation Efforts to Save Lake Tahoe

Oskar Blues announced their new partnership with conservation organization, Keep Tahoe Blue. The 18-month-long partnership will include fundraising efforts led by Oskar Blues Brewery’s distributor partners and various events to raise environmental awareness. Oskar Blues Brewery will also donate beer for thirsty, of-drinking-age volunteers to crush when they’re done working hard on conservation efforts.

Keep Tahoe Blue is a non-profit organization that works to combat pollution, tackle invasive species, promote restoration, and protect the shoreline. Northern California’s Lake Tahoe – the second deepest lake in America – is home to a host of wildlife. The lake’s natural beauty attracts tens of millions of visitors every year.

“Working to preserve Lake Tahoe makes sense to us because it’s a rad place to have an adventure with a can of craft beer in your hand,” said Oskar Blues Brewery Marketing Director Chad Melis. “We started using infinitely recyclable cans back in 2002 because sustainable packaging is an important part of keeping rugged natural spots like Lake Tahoe around. That way, the next generation will have a chance to hike, bike, swim, paddle, and drink beer at these places just like we love to do.”

To kick off the partnership, a massive fundraising effort will take place in July. All month long, Oskar Blues Brewery’s Northern California and Northern Nevada Distributor partners will donate $1 to Keep Tahoe Blue per each case of beer sold. Participating Distributors include Saccani Distributing, Breakthru Beverage, Humboldt Beer Distributors, Morris Distributing, Valley Wide Beverage, DBI Beverage, and Elyxir Distributing. Oskar Blues Brewery will then match those donations, boosting the contribution to $2 per case sold in July, up to $15,000.
