Ohio Craft Brewers Conference Returns to Cleveland

Brewing industry professionals from around Ohio and across the country will convene in Cleveland for the annual Ohio Craft Brewers Conference presented by The Cincinnati Insurance Companies. The eighth annual conference will be held Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 2023 at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. This year’s conference agenda will feature 30 seminars and panel discussions on a broad range of brewing industry topics.

Cleveland was chosen as the conference location for the second time after previously hosting in 2018. The Ohio Craft Brewers Association organizes this annual educational event as part of the group’s mission to promote, preserve, diversify and unify Ohio’s craft brewing industry.

The conference features a keynote address on each day in addition to seminars covering technical brewing, beer sales and marketing, business administration and other topics. There is also a specific focus on brewery startup issues, both for newly established breweries and those still in the planning stages.

Dr. Bart Watson, chief economist for the Brewers Association, will deliver the first keynote address on Tuesday, Jan. 31, focusing on craft beer’s changing and maturing market. Watson leads the non-profit trade group’s surveying, research and market analysis efforts, providing economic and statistical support to the Brewers Association’s government affairs work at the federal level.

Kate Muggli, founder and executive director of Infinite Ingredient, will deliver the day two keynote on Wednesday, Feb. 1, addressing the causes of employee burnout in the industry and how to prevent it. Infinite Ingredient is a non-profit organization founded to support the mental and physical well-being of individuals working in the craft beverage industry through outreach, education, and access to resources.

“The craft brewing industry has endured several years of turbulence in the wake of the pandemic,” said Ohio Craft Brewers Association executive director Mary MacDonald. “The educational resources offered at the conference will help our independent breweries address emerging issues and adapt to changes in the beverage alcohol market.”

Organizers expect more than 650 industry professionals to attend this year’s event. The conference trade show will also offer more than 90 businesses the opportunity to exhibit their goods and services that support Ohio’s 415 independent craft breweries.
