Lakewood Reopens Taproom with Food Partner

Lakewood Brewing Company is reopening its Taproom to the public starting at 11 a.m. this Friday, November 13.

“It’s 2020, so why not reopen on Friday the 13th,” joked Wim Bens, Founder and President of Lakewood Brewing. “We’re super excited to welcome our guests again. We’ve really missed having our fans in the brewery.”

Lakewood has partnered with two kitchen concepts to supply food for purchase: Oddbird Chicken Kitchen which serves housemade wings, ribs, and fried chicken, and Meatball Kitchen which crafts meatball subs with classic Italian recipes alongside some creative new takes on sauces and sides.

Dean Furbush, CEO of Kitchen to Kitchen, the parent company for Oddbird and Meatball Kitchen, said “we’re passionate about great food, and just as passionate about supporting our community. To be partnering with local icon Lakewood Brewing, supporting its re-opening — well, that’s just perfect!”

“Since the Taproom is now considered a ‘restaurant’ in the eyes of TABC, half of our sales need to come from a combination of food and merchandise. For us to stay open we hope everyone will come out and try some of the delicious food from our new partners or maybe get some early Christmas shopping in. It’ll take some getting used to, but these are the rules in order for us to open back up to the public,” said Bens. “We have lots of room to spread out, have a beer and food, and grab some beers to-go.”

Bens added that all safety measures will be in place at the sprawling brewery and beer garden.
