Geary’s Pale Ale Turns 32; Brown Ale Earns the No. 10,000 Title

As 2018 was closing, New England’s First Craft Brewery was celebrating its flagship beer’s 32nd anniversary and brewing its 10,000th batch of beer. The week of December 10, 2018 was a big one for the 35-year-old, history-making company. Pale Ale was poured for the first time at $3 Dewey’s in the Old Port on December 10, 1986. Also on December 13, the brewery achieved a great milestone when it brewed its 10,000th batch of beer. The milestone brew was Geary’s Brown Ale, a brand new ale released in the fall of 2018.

Peter Brown, Director of Operations for Geary Brewing Co. says, “It’s been an exciting year at Geary’s. We had our work cut out for us, but we persevered to steward an important part of Maine’s history.” Further stating “hitting our 10,000th brew made us all feel rewarded to have helped the brewery make it to this point and to continue on into the future.”

Details about Pale Ale and Brown Ale:

  • Pale Ale: This flagship beer is a classic British style pale ale. It has a copper color with a malty body and medium mouth feel. Stone fruit sweetness complements the traditional bitterness of this ale. At 5.2% ABV, Geary’s Pale Ale pairs well with flavor-packed food and is enjoyed year round.
  • Brown Ale: This medium bodied brown ale is dark brown in color and has chocolate and caramel flavors with enough citrus hop flavor and bite to compliment the malty and sweet notes. Also at 5.2% ABV, Geary’s Brown Ale pairs well with comfort foods and is best enjoyed in the cooler months.

Both Pale Ale and Brown Ale are currently available at Geary’s tasting room, in grocery and convenience stores, and at a number of restaurants in Maine and Massachusetts.
