Empyrean Releases New Beer for Lazlo’s 30th Anniversary

Local restaurant Lazlo’s Brewery & Grill is celebrating its 30th year in a unique way – with a beer brewed in-house by its own brewery. “Thirtieth Anniversary White Ale,” brewed by Empyrean Brewing Co., is a throwback Belgian-Style White Ale reminiscent of rock ‘n roll and the early ‘90s. The beer is a nod to head brewer Rich Chapin, who spent time apprenticing in Belgium’s breweries before helping found Empyrean.

The limited-edition ale is set to run from January until the end of March. During this time, both Lazlo’s and Empyrean will host multiple giveaways with the chance to win one grand prize or many other prizes, including gift cards, growler fill stations, t-shirts, coolers and more. Lazlo’s will also host pint nights at its three locations. To learn more about the giveaways, visit Empyrean or Lazlo’s on Facebook.

Over 30 years ago, Lazlo’s paved the way for the state’s first brewpubs, or restaurants selling beer brewed on their premises. Founders Scott and Brian Boles and Jay “Lazlo” Jarvis spent several years working with Nebraska legislators to pass a bill allowing the establishment of brewpubs. In 1988, the legislature passed LB780 under the Nebraska Liquor Control Act that allowed brewpubs in the state of Nebraska. Lazlo’s Brewery & Grill opened soon after, in March 1991.

Known for its from-scratch food and beer and great service, Lazlo’s Brewery & Grill made its start in Lincoln’s Historic Haymarket District. Since then, the restaurant has opened locations in South Lincoln and Omaha. Its sister restaurant, FireWorks, launched in Lincoln in 2002.

Empyrean Brewing Co. has expanded into six states since its founding in 1990. The company derives its name from the adventurous spirit of ancient civilizations and uses that philosophy to guide its new offerings. Empyrean currently offers nine core beers available year-round, a line of seasonal beers and a host of specialty and limited release-beers. To learn more, visit empyreanbrewingco.com.
