Cape Cod Beer, a staple of the Cape’s brewing community for more than two decades, has announced that it has been acquired by Triton Beverage Group, a newly formed, locally owned company that brings together Hog Island Beer Co., Mayflower Brewing Company, and now Cape Cod Beer under one independent “beach umbrella.”
“After 21 incredible years of brewing on Cape Cod, we are happy and eager to announce that our beloved brewery has been acquired by Triton Beverage Group,” said Todd and Beth Marcus, founders of Cape Cod Beer in a social media post. “Please know that this decision was not an easy one.”
The Marcuses emphasized that the transition is about ensuring the legacy of Cape Cod Beer continues to thrive.
“Over the last two decades, this team has created something that we’ve said is ‘bigger than just beer,’ and we would be silly to let that legacy come to an end,” they wrote. “It was extremely important for us to find a partner who would honor our brand, our people, and our commitment to this place we call home. We believe we have found that in Triton.”
Triton Beverage Group will operate each brewery independently from their current locations in Hyannis, Plymouth, and Orleans. Fans can expect the same great teams, unique identities, and strong community ties.
“This is not about altering what makes each brewery special; rather, it’s about enhancing our collective strengths,” said Mike McNamara of Hog Island Beer Co. “Our goal is to generate more local jobs, support important local initiatives, and broaden the availability of our locally crafted beers.”
For the team at Cape Cod Beer, the announcement is as much a celebration as it is a transition.
“We wouldn’t be here without the amazing support of this community that we love,” the Marcuses wrote. “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. It’s been a true honor to be Cape Cod’s beer, and we look forward to celebrating with you as the brewery embarks on its next adventure.”
