Brewer and College in Greensboro to Help Laid Off MillerCoors Employees

EDEN—People being laid off from MillerCoors in Eden may soon be able to get a job at a new brewery.

A Greensboro investor continues to make plans to open a craft brewery in the county.

A few years ago, real estate investor Marty Kotis never imagined he’d open a brewery in Rockingham County—until the community college started its brewing sciences program in 2011.

“We probably wouldn’t have targeted Eden for a brewery, but for RCC’s brewing program, and frankly the quality of the workforce, the people there that are very familiar with brewing,” Kotis said. “We’ve aquired the old Eden Armory in downtown Leaksville and have plans to do a brewery in that area at some point in the future working with RCC.”
