Boulder Beer Partners with Homebrewer/Keyboardist in Hoopla Festival Release

It’s time to make a joyful sound as Boulder Beer Company has teamed up with Kyle Hollingsworth, keyboardist of The String Cheese Incident, for the 2022 release of Hoopla Festival Beer.

Releasing just in time for the kick-off of music festival season, this light, bubbly, summer sipper features a brilliant splash of summertime flavors through the use of Mandarina and Australian-grown Cascade hops, lemon and lime, and Buddha’s Hand, an exotic citrus fruit that lends an added burst of citrusy lemon notes reminiscent of a shandy.

“Buddha’s Hand adds citrus aroma and flavor displaying a great depth and complexity, explained Joe Schiraldi,” VP of Operations for Sleeping Giant Brewing. “We also added lemon and lime puree to balance that complexity with lighter “fruity” sweet notes and an added zest to the finish.”

This bubbly and citrusy summer beer clocks in at an easy 4.5% ABV and was brewed to celebrate the beer drinker’s definition of Hoopla- that euphoric feeling of dancing to your favorite band, exploring the great outdoors, or simply kicking back with friends on the porch.

But what’s most exciting about this release is the opportunity to collaborate once again with Kyle Hollingsworth, keyboardist of The String Cheese Incident. A long-time homebrewer, Hollingsworth first teamed up with Boulder Beer on the original iteration of Hoopla in 2011. First conceived as a Pale Ale, the Boulder Beer team has modernized its recipe while maintaining the spirit of Hoopla.

“It’s great to bring back Hoopla, the first distributed collaboration beer I was involved with, adding a new take on the beer altogether,” said Hollingsworth. “Hoopla’s new profile featuring Buddha’s Hand and hints of lemon will be the perfect refreshing taste on a hot summer day at a music festival.”

“As a homebrewer, I’ve worked with lots of different types of adjuncts, including some fruit and even an earl gray bergamot,” Hollingsworth continued. “This combination of a light, crisp beer with a burst of lemon is awesome and I’m really excited to be bringing this revised Hoopla to the world!”
