Make way for Atwater!  Jetsetter.com, Trip Advisor’s “community of travelers that provides insider access and knowledge” of the hottest new places to visit, has named the new Atwater in the Park microbrewery as one of the top ten beer halls in America.

Joining other new microbreweries in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and other cities, Atwater in the Park is called the “most traditional” hall on the list and praised for its “brew barrels that now stand where the altar once sat and long communal tables that have been fashioned out of reclaimed church pews.”   The microbrewery features 40 draft handles inside and 10 more outside in the bier garden where heaters and a fire pit keep customers cozy while they sample Atwater’s sudsy brews and eclectic menu.

Opened in June, Atwater in the Park’s menu features typical German favorites like schnitzel, beer braised and sauerkraut-laden kielbasa, and pork belly corn dogs, but also offers burgers, pizza, salads and soups.  “Something for everyone,” says Atwater’s owner Mark Rieth.  “We wanted to create a fun community atmosphere in a unique indoor and outdoor space where guests have a full selection of beers, food and lively conversation.  We think we’ve succeeded and the Jetsetter recognition gives us an important stamp of approval.”

Atwater in the Park serves its own ‘distinctly Detroit’ brewed beers including its most popular Vanilla Java Porter, Dirty Blond and Grand Circus IPA, and also serves its own popular hard cider.  The microbrewery is open Monday thru Thursday from 11:30 am until midnight; Friday and Saturday from 11:30 am until 2:00 am and Sunday from 11:30 am until 10:00 pm.  Atwater, whose original tap room remains open in its Detroit brewery onJoseph Campau, plans to introduce its own line of spirits beginning in early 2015.
