Sunflower is back.
Fifty West Brewing Company has resumed sales of its Sunflower THC Seltzer in Ohio after receiving temporary relief from restrictions imposed under Ohio Senate Bill 56.
The ruling allows Fifty West to resume selling Sunflower in Ohio while its broader legal challenge continues. While it is not a final decision in the case, Fifty West sees the temporary relief as an encouraging step forward and an opportunity to restore momentum behind a product and category the company strongly believes in.
Sunflower is returning to Fifty West Burger Bars, sales representatives are getting back on the road to reconnect with retail partners across the state, and the brewery is ramping up Sunflower production to meet renewed demand.
“We’ve learned to celebrate the small wins as we continue pushing for sensible, long-term regulation of this category,” said Bobby Slattery, Founder of Fifty West Brewing Company. “Today is definitely one worth celebrating. Our sales team can get back out there growing Sunflower, our production team can ramp up, and our retail partners have the opportunity to put it back on their shelves. This isn’t just a win for Fifty West. It’s a win for our retail partners, our customers and the future of an industry we believe has a place in Ohio.”
Sunflower was created by Fifty West as a refreshing alternative for adults looking for a different way to socialize. The 5mg hemp-derived THC seltzer has quickly become an important and growing part of Fifty West’s beverage lineup, with Orange Cream Pop, Blueberry Dream and Cherry Limeade currently available.
The road ahead, however, is far from settled.
Fifty West’s legal challenge to Senate Bill 56 remains ongoing, and separate changes to federal hemp law are currently scheduled to take effect in December. The company plans to continue advocating for a sensible, long-term regulatory framework that allows responsible hemp-derived THC businesses to grow while establishing clear standards for the category.
For now, Fifty West is focused on building on this opportunity: increasing Sunflower production, supporting and expanding its network of retail partners, and getting the product back into the hands of customers who have been asking for its return.
“We know there’s still a fight ahead of us, but we’re encouraged by this step forward,” Slattery said. “Sunflower is back on the shelf, we have the opportunity to start growing again, and we couldn’t be more excited about what comes next.”
Sunflower is available immediately at Fifty West Burger Bars, with the brewery actively reconnecting with retail partners and working to resume broader distribution throughout Ohio.
