Warped Wing Brewing Company, Dorothy Lane Market, and Cox Arboretum MetroPark are excited to announce the release of Midwest Roots Red IPA – a small-batch collaboration beer brewed with ingredients grown right here in Ohio. The beer debuts Thursday, September 25 at 4 p.m. at Warped Wing’s Downtown Dayton Taproom at 26 Wyandot Street.
“This collaboration really highlights what Dayton and Ohio has to offer in terms of local flavor and community spirit,” said Nick Bowman, Co-Founder & VP of Sales & Marketing at Warped Wing. “At Warped Wing, we’ve always believed that the best beer is brewed with a deep sense of place and purpose. Collaborating with Dorothy Lane Market and Cox Arboretum was a natural fit bringing together local passion, ingredients, and craftsmanship.
“This project celebrates our shared commitment to community, sustainability, and the incredible natural resources right here in our backyard. We’re proud to raise a pint to the people and the land that make Dayton and Ohio such a special place.”
Copy on the can reads: “Brewed in collaboration with Dorothy Lane Market & Cox Arboretum MetroPark, Midwest Roots Red IPA is a celebration of local flavor & community spirit. Made with heirloom Ohio-grown Turkey Red Wheat & Chinook hops grown at Cox Arboretum – this IPA is a true taste of homegrown harmony. Bold, balanced, & deeply rooted in our local landscape.”
“It has been a joy for us at DLM to watch our Local Grain Program expand throughout the years, we are excited to watch our local farmers venture down this new avenue with the very grains we use in our bread, and collaborate with two local institutions in creating something entirely unique,” said Greg Tyzzer from Dorothy Lane Market.
Midwest Roots Red IPA (5.4% ABV, 20 IBU) will be available in 6-packs of limited-edition cans for $12.99 and on draft at Warped Wing locations. Dorothy Lane Market will also host their own release party at a later date (details coming soon).
“We are so grateful to Warped Wing for their support of the Cox Arboretum Foundation and for helping raise awareness of the vital role our parks play in our community. Partnerships like this one, with businesses stepping up to celebrate local ingredients, champion sustainability and give back to our parks, make a tremendous difference. Together, we’re not only protecting our natural environment, but also creating opportunities for people across the region to connect with and be inspired by the beauty of nature,” said Kathy Sperry, President of the Cox Arboretum Foundation.
As part of Warped Wing’s “Share a Pint, Make a Difference” program, all draft and 6-pack can sales of Midwest Roots Red IPA will benefit The Cox Arboretum Foundation, supporting their mission to inspire, educate, and connect the Dayton community through nature.
“Collaborating with Greg Tyzzer from the DLM Bakery and Joe Morrison from the MetroParks was fantastic! Greg was very inspiring with his support of locally grown cereal grains and love of local farmers such as John Branstrator. The use of some of these uncommon ingredients created a couple of unique challenges but I think we, as a team, solved those and the beer turned out fantastic!” said John Haggerty, Co-Founder & Brewmaster at Warped Wing.
So grab a pint, support local, and join us in raising a glass to homegrown harmony with Midwest Roots Red IPA.
