76 Craft Breweries to Participate in Ales for ALS™ this Summer

This summer, 76 breweries from 25 states are participating in Ales for ALS™, a unique craft brewery-based fundraising initiative benefiting ALS research. Since 2013, Ales for ALS has generated $500,000 for the ALS Therapy Development Institute, a nonprofit biotech where scientists actively discover and develop treatments for ALS. This year’s goal is to raise $300,000 to accelerate important research into ALS treatments and cures.

Each Ales for ALS brewer receives a special blend of experimental hops donated by B.T. Loftus Ranches and Hopunion to create a limited edition beer, donating a minimum of $1 per pint sold to the Institute. Most Ales for ALS beers will be available between June and August 2015.

“Every 90 minutes someone in the US is diagnosed with ALS, and this program should give them hope: Hope for a future where ALS can be stopped. The craft brew industry has been a crucial partner in making significant advancements in ALS research through the funding raised from the Ales for ALS program. We are grateful to have the support of dozens of craft brewers and the thousands of people who show up to try their unique Ales for ALS beers each year,” said Steve Perrin, Ph.D., CEO and CSO of the ALS Therapy Development Institute.

In addition to craft brewer participation in Ales for ALS, the campaign will incorporate festivals, parties, and homebrew competitions. Locations and dates are listed online at the Ales for ALS website.
