5 Vortex Variants Set to Celebrate 5 Years of Vortex Month for Fort George

After nearly two decades and thousands of IPAs, Fort George Brewery is celebrating its best-selling beer with the return of Vortex Month. Beginning April 1, Fort George will mark the 5th annual Vortex Month with five limited-release Vortex variants, special events across the Northwest, and exclusive merchandise — all dedicated to the brewery’s flagship IPA.

First brewed in 2007 on Fort George’s original 8.5-barrel brewhouse — which still operates today at the brewery’s Astoria pub — Vortex IPA has evolved alongside the brewery itself. Over the years, Fort George has refined the recipe, adjusted processes, and explored new hop combinations while maintaining the familiar flavor profile that made Vortex a Northwest favorite.

Like Fort George’s growth from a small team to one of Oregon’s largest independent breweries, Vortex continues to change with the times. The brewery says that its brewers remain committed to sourcing new hops, improving efficiency, and continually refining the beer to deliver the best possible pint.

Fort George launched the first Vortex Month in April 2021. Five years later, the brewery is celebrating with its most ambitious lineup yet. Throughout April, Fort George will host events across the Northwest, release limited merchandise, and showcase five special Vortex variants.
