Zwickelmania Goes Virtual, State of Excitement No. 4 Releases

The month of February usually brings two of the Oregon Brewers Guild’s favorites: Oregon Craft Beer Month and its annual Zwickelmania open house-style events. Unfortunately, as the pandemic and state restrictions carry on, holding in-person events is still not an option. The good news is the Guild will be holding virtual Zwickelmania events, as well as releasing the fourth iteration of their State of Excitement collaboration beer.

In an effort to help highlight Oregon Craft Beer Month, throughout February the Guild will be promoting its member breweries from across the state via its social media outlets. Origin stories, photos, beer releases, as well as food & beer specials will be the main focus.

The virtual Zwickelmania events will coincide with the original in-person dates: Portland breweries will be highlighted on Saturday, February 13th and then the remainder of the state on Saturday, February 20th. The Oregon Brewers Guild will host meet-the-brewer panel discussions and virtual beer tastings via the Zoom platform and will run virtual brewery tours via their Facebook and Youtube channel platforms. A full schedule and details on how to tune in will be posted via their social media outlets on Tuesday, February 2nd.

The Guild will also be releasing their State of Excitement No. 4 on Saturday, February 13th, which can be found at any of the twenty-six participating Oregon breweries. Brewed at Portland’s StormBreaker Brewing, this 6.5 percent West Coast IPA is packed full of Strata™, Citra®, Simcoe® and Comet hops donated by John I Haas. Malts were donated by Country Malt Group, including Pure Oregon two-row crafted from 100% Oregon grown barley; pitched with Dry Hop yeast donated by Imperial Yeast; printing, cans and packaging donated by Rose City Label, Craft Canning and WCP Solutions. Label design work was donated by Richard LaRue. All of the proceeds from State of Excitement No. 4 benefit the Oregon Brewers Guild, and its efforts to protect and promote the state’s craft beer industry.

Participating breweries include: Barsideous Brewing, Bend Brewing Co, Bevel Brewing, Binary Brewing, Boneyard Beer, Brewery 26, Deluxe Brewing, Deschutes Brewery, ForeLand Beer, Gigantic Brewing, Hammer & Stitch Brewing, Heater Allen Brewing, Hopworks Urban Brewery, Leikam Brewing, McMenamins, Ninkasi Brewing, Sasquatch Brewing, StormBreaker Brewing, Threshold Brewing & Blending, Unicorn Brewing, Von Ebert Brewing, Weekend Beer Co, West Coast Grocery Co., Wild Ride Brewing, Wolf Tree Brewing, and Yachats Brewing.
