Reuben’s Brews’ Crikey IPA and Robust Porter were recognized in two large competitions in the last week. Crikey IPA took gold in one of the highly competitive IPA categories and Robust Porter took bronze in the English Porter category at the European Beer Star Awards. Both beers — which are year-round offerings — were also named as finalists in the 2017 Good Food Awards.
“Winning multiple medals at the esteemed European Beer Star Awards is an honor and a thrill for all of us at the brewery,” said Adam Robbings, Co-Founder and Head Brewer of Reuben’s Brews. “Brewing the best beer we can in an environmentally and community-conscious way is key to what we’re all about, which makes recognition at the Good Food Awards really exciting too!”
The 2016 European Beer Star Awards received a record number of entries, with 2,103 beers from 44 countries. The awards in this competition are some of the most sought-after prizes in the international brewing world and the program gets its reputation from the 124-strong jury of experts. This year, the jury included master brewers, beer sommeliers and acknowledged beer connoisseurs from 30 countries. Only one gold, one silver and one bronze medal were awarded in each of the 57 different beer categories.
The 2017 Good Food Awards represent 14 categories and 38 states, and all finalists rose to the top in a blind tasting of the 2,059 entries from nearly every state. In addition, the finalists passed a rigorous vetting to confirm they met specific Good Food Awards standards surrounding environmentally sound agriculture practices, sourcing transparency and responsible relationships throughout the supply chain. 200 Good Food Award Winners will be selected from nearly 300 total finalists and announced Friday, January 20, 2017, at a gala Awards Ceremony in San Francisco.
