This is a part of a continuing series of Q&As with members of the brewing community from across the US. Brewer Magazine will share business and personal insights from Brewmasters, Head Brewers, Brewing Managers, Sales Directors, QCQA Managers and others each weekend to help you get to know each other better in the industry and learn more to better develop your own brand.
Eric Jackson, Marketing & Social Media Manager, Triple Crossing Beer — Richmond, Virginia
BREWER: How does a typical day in your role look, and how do you balance operational demands with fostering a positive team environment?
JACKSON: Depends on the day. But a lot of photography, brainstorming, writing creatives and creating campaigns for releases and special events. We keep it fun around here, so we have “content” days where we probably spend about an hour or two producing pieces of media for whatever it is we are pushing. Plus we get to eat the food.
BREWER: Are there any recent accomplishments for the brewery you want to tout and how is it going to improve your business going forward?
JACKSON: We have recently begun distributing in North Carolina. Moving our footprint outside of Virginia is exciting, and it’s been something on our radar for a while. This one is easy, it helps us sell more beer!
BREWER: What have you found to be the most effective way to handle customer feedback, both positive and negative?
JACKSON: Our Dir. of Operations, and owners do a great job of responding to customer feedback back. From what I’ve seen, it’s about hearing the customer, and finding the happy medium.
BREWER: What first drew you to the industry, and what keeps you passionate about being part of it today?
JACKSON: Just being a beer explorer. After I fell in love with the craft, I wanted to contribute in an important way to how people understood, and enjoyed, great beer.

BREWER: What are you sippin’ on right now from your brewery that you really enjoy?
JACKSON: Nectar & Knife is one of our house DIPAs and it’s drinking incredibly right now. Juicy mango with this bright, but dank finish to it.
BREWER: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to new managers stepping into a role similar to yours?
JACKSON: Be creative, communicative and open to new ideas.
