Schlafly Doubles Down on Next Hop Allocation Beer: Double IPA

Schlafly Beer announces the release of Double IPA, the next in a series of hop-forward beers for 2017, known as the Hop Allocation Series. The largest, locally-owned brewery in St. Louis has introduced a new IPA every six weeks with the series. At 10.0% ABV and 80 IBUs, the Double IPA offers an amped-up version of Schlafly Beer’s finest IPA, made with twice the hops for a bolder bite. Formerly only a brewpub offering, this is the first time that the Double IPA will be available in bottles across Schlafly’s distribution.

“The Hop Allocation series showcases the depth of flavors and distinct characteristics of different hops. Some of the beers in the line-up are an introduction to hoppy beers, but this one is for the true hop lover,” says Ambassador Brewer Stephen Hale.

Schlafly Beer’s IPA recipe features Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops. The Double IPA amplifies the hops respective flavors from Chinook’s grapefruit, spice and piney notes; Mosiac’s earthy, floral and fruity flavors of blueberry, tangerine and rose blossom; and notes of passion fruit, pine and berry from the Simcoe hops. “From its IBUs to ABV, it gives you reason to embrace its strength,” says Hale. “The Double IPA has a full and bold hop flavor profile without busting your palate so it’s still enjoyable to drink.”

Schlafly Double IPA will be available for purchase starting this week for a suggested retail price of $10.99 across Schlafly’s distribution area. It can be purchased in bottled six-packs and growlers or on draft at the Bottleworks or Tap Room locations.
