Schlafly Beer’s Stout Box to Return with Three New Selections

Schlafly Beer announces today the upcoming release of the Stout Bout, one of the most popular variety packs from the largest locally owned craft brewery in St. Louis. A selection “worth fighting for,” this year’s stouts include: the returning Mexican Chocolate Stout (6.2%), Dulce de Leche Stout (6.5%), Raspberry Coffee Stout (5.7%) and Mango Ancho Stout (5.7%). The sampler pack will be available in the Schlafly brewpubs on Friday, November 23 and across Schlafly distribution area starting on Monday, November 26.

The Stout Bout name is a play on the boxing term for a match, and the “winning” selections featured in the sampler are determined by the crowd favorites at Schlafly’s annual Stout & Oyster Festival. Schlafly brews ten specialty stouts for the annual March festival, which are served as “tasting tacos” for guests (see below). The Dulce de Leche and Mango Ancho stouts were this year’s standouts. The 20th annual Schlafly Stout & Oyster Festival will take place at the Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust St.) on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23. See more about the festival here.

“People really look forward to seeing what flavors will make the pack every year,” says Founding Brewer Stephen Hale. “We listen to our consumer requests, and Stout & Oyster Festival is a fun way to test out new stouts from our creative brewing team. Festival attendees get to be a part of the process to help us curate what stouts make the pack, and now, they get to enjoy them again in the Stout Bout.”

This sampler also includes the once-retired brew, Raspberry Coffee Stout, as well as Mexican Chocolate Stout, a featured stout for the pack for the third year in a row. “All of the stouts can be found only in the Stout Bout so it’s a fun, exclusive sampler pack.”

To be a part of deciding next year’s Stout Bout pack, visit Schlafly’s Stout & Oyster Festival at the Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust St.) on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23. The largest, locally owned brewery in St. Louis flies in 80,000 oysters and 25 shuckers from both coasts for one of the largest oyster festivals in the country. The brewing team will again offer new, unique specialty stouts for sampling and consideration for next year’s Stout Bout.

The Stout Bout pack can be purchased at the Schlafly brewpubs or across the brewery’s distribution region for $13.99 suggested retail price.
