Point Unwraps the Foil on New Peanut Butter Porter

Inspired by one of America’s most popular indulgences — peanut butter cups — the Stevens Point Brewery introduces a rich and exquisite twist on a classic Porter.

Brewed with smooth peanut butter flavor, chocolate, and caramel malts, the new Point PB Cup Porter is a perfect brew for fall celebrations or football tailgates.  Sold in six-packs, 12-ounce bottles and on tap starting this month in Point’s core Midwest markets, Point PB Cup Porter will be available only while supplies last.

Point PB Cup Porter was an easy choice as Stevens Point Brewery’s next limited release beer, according to Julie Birrenkott, Stevens Point Brewery Marketing Director.

“Test batches of Point PB Cup Porter have been on tap at select locations throughout Wisconsin. The response has been overwhelmingly positive! Its combination of rich flavor and delicious aroma quickly made PB Cup a huge hit among Point craft beer fans,” Birrenkott said. “This is a wonderful beer for all seasons, but it will be a treat to sip PB Cup on a cool, autumn night, especially around Halloween.”

According to Brewmaster Mike Schraufnagel, Point PB Cup Porter is a novel spin on the American-style porter.

“We use traditional ingredients, including caramel, chocolate wheat, black, and two-row pilsner-style pale malts. Together these impart a smooth, well-balanced maltiness to this beer,” he explained. “Point PB Cup also has a touch of Northern Brewer hops and, of course, the flavor of creamy peanut butter. The end result is a dark, delicious brew that’s rich in flavor and accented by hints of coffee and dark chocolate.”
