Lakewood Brings Back Pumpkin-Spiced Punkel Lager

It’s Punkel season again at Lakewood Brewing Company.

“Tired of all the same old German lagers for Octoberfest? There must be a better way!” joked Wim Bens, President and Founder of LBC. “Let’s face it, it’s hot in Texas during Octoberfest celebrations, so we put our crushable dark German lager in a can for tailgate and lederhosen season. Not only is Punkel a traditional German Lager but it’s ‘Punked-up’ with just enough pumpkin spice to have you longing for cooler weather.”

Punkel was one of the first local pumpkin-inspired beers (it has no pumpkin, just pumpkin pie spices). First released in 2013, it has survived the Pumpkin Beer Craze of 2014 and Pumpkin Beer Demise of 2016 to be one of the last pumpkin-inspired beers left standing. It’s LBC’s longest and most popular seasonal.

Punkel is available to-go at the Lakewood Taproom in 6-packs, crowlers and growlers and is available at grocery and liquor stores.
