Great Lakes Brings Back 73 Kolsch with Browns’ Thomas

Great Lakes Brewing Co. (GLBC) announces the return of 73 Kolsch, a limited seasonal release crafted in collaboration with Cleveland football hero and 2023 Canton inductee Joe Thomas.

Originally released in 2018, the 5.7% ABV 73 Kolsch is a light, crisp, tailgate worthy beer named for the left tackle’s uniform number, and has since become a seasonal favorite throughout Northeast Ohio and with football fans throughout the brewery’s footprint.

To celebrate Thomas’ amazing career and commemorate his 2023 enshrinement, this year’s 16 oz. Can 6-Packs will be adorned with a special gold top. 73 Kolsch will be released in cans and in draft throughout Northeast Ohio beginning Monday, July 24 after an early GLBC gift shop release on Friday, July 21.

In addition to the beer itself, Great Lakes Brewing Co. has once again collaborated with Cleveland’s GV Art and Design to release a special induction-themed merch collection including limited edition apparel, a poster, and a can sleeve with a custom Joe Thomas and 73 Kolsch-inspired illustration. The collection will be available for purchase in the GLBC gift shop and at GV’s Lakewood location for a limited time beginning Friday, July 21.

On Thursday, August 10, the GLBC brewpub hosts a commemorative Brewmaster’s Dinner with special guest Joe Thomas. Guests will enjoy an exclusive five-course dinner expertly paired with five GLBC beers, and hear firsthand stories from Thomas’ career. As a parting gift, each guest will take home a signed copy of Joe Thomas: Not Your Average Joe, the new authorized biography by Marc Bona and Dan Murphy. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased at greatlakesbrewing.com/events.

73 Kolsch will be available in cans and draft at select Northeast Ohio locations beginning Monday, July 24, while supplies last. For more information on 73 Kolsch merchandise and events, visit greatlakesbrewing.com.
