Bay City Brewing Releases Strictly Business, Belgian Wit

Summertime in the craft beer capital of America calls for sipping on innovative ales during perfect weather. As it embraces the last month of summer, Bay City Brewing Co. announces the release of its two newest craft beer creations: Strictly Business and Belgian Wit. The two releases encompass one-of-a-kind flavor profiles that make them light, refreshing and perfect for a summer day.

Adding to Bay City’s lineup of pale ales, Strictly Business blends the bitterness of El Dorado hops with the complex Zythos hops to create a tropical fruit flavor profile with a hint of pineapple. According to Head Brewer Chris West, this is a great beer for summer because of its light appearance, yet beautiful and bright hop character. At 6.0 alcohol by volume, this pillowy-golden IPA is mildly hoppy with the same kick of a traditional pale ale.

Producing a completely different flavor profile, Belgian Wit is a 4.9 alcohol by volume pale straw-colored witbier ale in the family of Belgian-style wheat beers. The beer combines local orange zest with notes of coriander and pepper to give off a slightly sweet and tart flavor in every sip. West explains that by using two different forms of wheat as the beer’s malt, the beer yields a soft mouthfeel with a bready character.

As the brewery gears up for its two-year-anniversary later this month, it celebrates these two new releases – pushing the brewery to 20 different beers on tap, ranging from heavy IPAs to tart sours.

“With our young brewery, we’re continually experimenting with new flavor combinations and beer styles to set us apart from the other great breweries in the area,” said Bay City Co-Owner Ben DuBois. “These new summer brews are unlike anything we have on tap, giving our customers more options to taste and love.”

Strictly Business is currently on tap in the brewery’s Point Loma tasting room, and Belgian Wit will be available mid-August. Known informally as the “I-saw-you-from-the-freeway” brewery, Bay City Brewing Co. has found its home off Hancock Street in an industrial nook of Point Loma where everyone is welcome to enjoy its original brews and laid-back atmosphere. The brewery will open the doors of its new, next door event space later this month to keep the fun going all year long.
