True North Ale Company has secured a competitive contract with Systembolaget, Sweden’s state-owned alcohol retailer, paving the way for its Scale Breaker Pumpkin Ale to be sold in retail stores throughout the country this fall.
The brewery said Scale Breaker Pumpkin Ale was selected from a competitive field of entries to be imported and distributed through Systembolaget’s retail network.
The seasonal beer is brewed with specialty malts for a malt-forward sweetness and features pumpkin along with cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, ginger and clove. The brewery describes the beer as offering notes of pumpkin pie and warm baking spices.
“It is especially rewarding to have our beer recognized on an international basis,” said Gary Rogers, founder and chief business operations officer at True North Ale Company. “Our production team has earned multiple medals in the largest and most prestigious brewing competitions in the world. This award, however, carries real dollars rather than medals. We like those, too.”
Scale Breaker Pumpkin Ale is now available in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, including at the brewery’s taproom in Ipswich. The beer also will be available this fall through Systembolaget locations across Sweden.
The label artwork for Scale Breaker Pumpkin Ale was created by Marblehead, Mass. artist Amy Hourihan.
