Hinterland to Celebrate 30 Years of Success & Innovation

Hinterland Brewery, a pioneer in the Wisconsin craft beer scene, is proud to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year. Since its founding in 1995, the brewery has showcased the spirit of independent beer with its commitment to making brews that challenge the palate, have a rich heritage, and tell a passionate story. The same philosophy lives in their kitchen where they push themselves to experiment with interesting combinations of perfectly paired flavors–each one designed to inspire their guests.

Hinterland was founded in 1995 by husband and wife duo Bill and Michelle Tressler in an old cheese factory just outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Prior to opening Hinterland, Bill’s path landed him a job as editor for Beer, The Magazine where he got hooked into the beer-making world. As early 20s college graduates uninspired by their corporate jobs, Bill and Michelle decided to do something people would actually appreciate—craft beer.

Hinterland expanded in 1998 and renovated a turn-of-the-century Green Bay meat-packing warehouse into a production house—and a restaurant featuring farm-to-table culinary experiences. In 2017 Hinterland moved to the Green Bay Packers’ Titletown district, directly across from historic Lambeau Field. After thirty years of operations, the Tresslers continue to lead their talented and passionate team in creating award-winning beers, including an innovative gluten-free series which are distributed nationally and internationally, as well as a purposeful culinary experience in one of a kind dining atmosphere, and a commitment to philanthropy.

To mark this 30 year milestone, Hinterland will host two special events this May: a 7 course beer dinner featuring chefs of Hinterland’s past and present on May 23; and an anniversary party and concert on May 24.
