Great Divide Brewing Co.’s brewery at the corner of Arapahoe and 22nd streets has been a hub of commerce since the 1920s. One previous tenet—a dairy business known as Beach Milk Co.—is getting a reboot of sorts in the form of a hyper-limited, taproom only brewery side-project.
The first two Beach Milk Project beers will release on September 15 and be available as 16oz 4-packs and on draft only at Great Divide’s two Denver taprooms. The labels will feature art by local artists.
“My goal for Beach Milk Project is to create an outlet for our brewers to have fun making new beers with the highest quality ingredients on a small scale,” explained Innovation Brewer, Tim Batog. “This Project isn’t intended to hit shelves outside of the brewery, but instead, give our taproom customers an inside look at what we can do here and what we like to do here.”
The beers in this series will vary drastically, “…from pilsners to stouts, from west coast IPAs to fruited cocktail seltzers. There really isn’t going to be a theme, it will just be what we think feels good. The naturally relaxed aspect of this is what’s going to make it special,” continued Batog.
The first two releases will emphasize that diversity of styles. Dream Argument is a New England-Style IPA brewed with Nectaron, El Dorado, Citra and HBC 586 hops. Solid Together is a Smoothie Sour with blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, mango, cherry, black currant and lactose.
“We recently installed a new canning line that allows us to be much more flexible in terms of the volume of beer we can process in a single run opening the door to these small batch releases,” said Marketing Manager, Matt Sandy. “When we were considering what to name this project, we wanted something that still had meaning to the brewery but would also inspire people to ask questions. Beach Milk Project is an odd but fun word jumble. It’s so weird it works.”
Look for Beach Milk Project beers in both Denver Great Divide taprooms starting September 15.
