Upside Announces Opening of ‘Dallas Taproom’ Expansion

Since opening in September of 2016 inside the popular J & G Pizza Palace, Upside Brewing is welcoming craft beer lovers to get a chance to pull up a stool and have a craft beer in the expanded Dallas Taproom in Downtown Sylvania.

The official opening of the Dallas Taproom is at 11 a.m. this Wednesday, October 25.

Located next door to the well-established pizzeria and connected inside as well, the new Dallas Taproom gives patrons a chance to saddle up to a bar stool — an experience Upside fans haven’t had a chance to have since the brewery began making beer in the downtown Sylvania establishment.

“Honestly, although it’s an extension of the restaurant and brewery, we decided to name it after the family name because it is different from J&Gs and unique all to itself,” brewery owners Nick & Melissa Dallas explained.

J & G Pizza Palace has served Italian and Greek foods on Main Street in downtown Sylvania since 1971. This multi-generational restaurant has been owned and operated by the Dallas family since 1979.

The new Dallas Taproom will have 24 taps of craft beer. Many will be Upside Brewing mainstays and a host of other local breweries along with cider, mead, sours and hard seltzers. The taproom will also feature a full bar with a wide selection of whiskeys and other spirits along with featured cocktails. The original J & G’s charm remains in the restaurant with what the Dallas’ say, “You still can travel back in time to the original 1970’s atmosphere.”

“We want to give a huge thank you to all of the support and encouragement over the many years in anticipation for this expansion,” the Dallas’ said.

The hours for the Dallas Taproom will be 4-11 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday; and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Hours for J & G will remain the same: 4-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 4-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
