Sawyer ‘Knighted’ for Beer/Brewery Work

WOB Bar & Kitchen is proud to announce that Marc Sawyer, Vice President of Strategy & Insights, was inaugurated to the Knighthood of the Brewers’ Paddle!

Every year the Knighthood of the Brewers’ Paddle continues the century old traditions of the “King of Beer” Gambrinus, dedicating themselves to spreading awareness of the rich history of Belgian beer and the brewing profession, and continuing the tradition of inducting individuals into its Brotherhood. The Brotherhood consist of members who have dedicated their professions to the growth of the brewing industry, specifically in the promotion of Belgian beer. Each year, Belgian brewers organize a series of festivities to pay tribute and in the United States, these festivities take place during Belgian Beer Week, where new knights are enthroned into the Knighthood of the Brewers’ Paddle.

Through his work on multiple Belgian beer initiatives, the newly knighted Sir Marc Sawyer was nominated by Global Beer Network, one of the predominant importers of Belgian beer to the United States.  Beginning his career as a Product Manager for WOB Bar & Kitchen in December 2010, Sir Sawyer has been a key driving force behind the development of the Bar & Kitchen’s diverse beverage program. Leading him to his current role, he is credited with the development of the company’s proprietary beer line, Secret Llama, facilitator of various brewery partnerships, and much more.

“Marc has been instrumental in building Belgian brands from the Global Beer Network portfolio for over a decade. His thoughtful approach and attention to detail have helped build awareness and recognition for these iconic brands. Beyond that he is an absolute pleasure to work with and holds so much pride in building programming for our brewer partners. He is a true Belgian ambassador,” said Christy Hanson, President of Global Beer Network

“I am honored to receive the recognition of the Knighthood of the Brewers’ Paddle,” said Sir Marc Sawyer. “I have always wanted to spread my passion for the beer industry and am humbled to be ‘knighted’ as a member of this brotherhood.”
