My Local Brew Works, Wooder Ice to Host Launch of Collab with Benefit Party

My Local Brew Works (MLBW), Philadelphia’s custom craft brewery focused on special events and contract brewing, is commemorating its first-ever collaboration with hyper-local, mega-popular “Blogazine” Wooder Ice by throwing an unofficial start of summer bash dubbed Wooder Ice Summer Soirée, slated for Thursday, June 8 from 6 – 8pm at Stratus Rooftop Lounge. Just in time for Philly Beer Week, the Wooder Ice Summer Soirée, complete with live entertainment, a variety of light bites paired with beer, tastings, and more, will benefit local non-profit Broad Street Ministry and showcases the debut of the limited-edition, fresh and flavorful collaborative craft beer, titled Franklin Frost.

Founded by 2020’s Home Sweet Homebrau Competition People’s Choice winners, Wayne Humphrey and Tim Montague, My Local Brew Works takes a multifaceted approach to nano brewing with three areas of business – contract brewing with authenticity, the ability to develop specialty beers for social and fundraising events, and direct-to-public brewing. What makes My Local Brew Works so unique is its ability to craft multiple beers of varying styles, flavor profiles and strength, from a single original mash.

With the soon-to-be-released Wooder Ice craft brew, Humphrey and Montague used their style of brewing multiple styles of beer from one mash with Franklin Frost, and its three seasonal varieties: Dry-Hopped, Mango, and Passionfruit.

“We had such a blast brewing our very own “Wooder Ice”-inspired beer with the team at My Local Brew Works as it allowed us to be fully integrated in the entire brewing process – from start to finish,” said Hector Nuñez, Founder of Wooder Ice. “We wanted to brew a very refreshing, ultra-on brand brew that represents both our brand and also shows our personality. We feel that Franklin Frost does just that.”

Ringing in at 6% ABV, Franklin Frost, an American Wheat Beer, is meant to evoke the refreshing summertime flavors of water ice while showcasing the level of control and customization that My Local Brew Works can provide to beer brewing. Franklin Frost will not be available for purchase; instead, it will be raffled at the first-ever Wooder Ice Summer Soirée on Thursday, June 8 from 6 – 8pm at Stratus Rooftop Lounge. With Franklin Frost being a small-batched beer, guests attending the soirée will have a chance to sample and (potentially) take home a case of this highly-limited brew – available while supplies last, for one-season-only.

Each attendee will get one raffle entry with their event ticket purchase and will have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets onsite for $5 each. One Grand Prize winner will take home an entire case of Franklin Frost, two second-place winners will receive a twelve-pack, and multiple third place winners will get to take home a six-pack containing two of each Franklin Frost flavor.

“Collaborating with Hector and his team at Wooder Ice was a pleasure from our first consultation brainstorming styles of beer, to the brew day spent together fine combing all of the logistics and brewing Franklin Frost, to our time planning this stellar launch event,” said Wayne Humphrey, Co-Founder and Brand Ambassador at My Local Brew Works. “Our partnership with them really shows just how involved in the custom craft brewing process you can be when you brew your own personalized beer with us – and we can’t wait for folks to be able to taste the finished product and (hopefully) join us for some brew days of their own this summer.”

Tickets to the Wooder Ice Summer Soirée are $25 for general admission and include a commemorative tasting cup, three drink tickets (one for each variety of Franklin Frost), one raffle ticket, and both My Local Brew Works and Wooder Ice swag, as well as complimentary hors d’oeuvres provided by Stratus Rooftop Lounge, and live entertainment courtesy of DJ Jovi spinning vinyl. There will also be an extremely limited quantity of VIP tickets available for $40 that include everything from general admission PLUS a six-pack of Franklin Frost packed with two bottles of each variety. Tickets are available for purchase via Eventbrite.

A portion of proceeds from ticket and raffle entry sales at Wooder Ice Summer Soirée will be donated to Broad Street Ministry, an organization dedicated to “radical hospitality” that provides both Social Services and Partner Services to help neighbors in-need and improve the overall quality of life in Philadelphia.
