MadTree Celebrates the Art & Beauty of International Women’s Day

Every year MadTree celebrates International Women’s Day by hosting their Ascending Women Event Series and by creating a specialty beer or Sway that pays homage to an iconic female trailblazer. This year, they’re doubling up on both.

Frida, the limited edition Sway Tequila and Soda with Prickly Pear, Lime and Jalapeno, celebrates Frida Kahlo, Mexican surrealist painter and artist, activist and feminist icon, and is available in the taproom and local stores. Additionally, Flower Crown, a new IPA crafted in collaboration with Pink Boots, is also dedicated to Frida and available in the taproom.

“From concept to liquid creation, this is a team effort by the women at MadTree,” said Brittany Frey, Production Manager. “Frida and Flower Crown are the newest editions in an International Women’s Day tradition that spans the last six years. We’re proud to serve customers products that taste great and tell the stories of women who’ve made their mark on the world.”

In addition, MadTree is hosting two large events celebrating women in art. The first, Ascending Women, will take place on March 7 from 5-8 p.m. and will include a panel discussion featuring local influential women in art, special exhibits and twenty-five booths featuring female makers and vendors.

On Friday, March 8 from 5-8 p.m. there will be a Women in Art Showcase in MadTree’s Barrel Room. This event is free to the public and will feature an interactive art experience, over thirty female artists and vendors and additional art exhibits.

“International Women’s Day is one of our favorite celebrations here at MadTree. The female-identifying employees come together to craft incredible beverages and bring to life amazing events,” said Rhiannon Hoeweler, VP of Experience and Impact. “For the second year in a row we’ve partnered with Power to Pursue continuing to focus on growing bigger and getting better, and finding new and exciting ways to celebrate all the amazing women in our community and beyond.”

Rachel DesRochers, CEO & Founder of Power to Pursue expounded upon Hoeweler’s comments by adding “Power to Pursue is so proud to work with MadTree to bring this programming to life! To highlight so many women who are creating & building businesses in our backyard is a dream come true!”

Tickets to Ascending Women can be purchased at www.madtreebrewing.com/events (walk-up tickets are also welcome). Clothing donations will be accepted both evenings to support Dress for Success and Adventure Crew.
