Sonoma County breweries The Lagunitas Brewing Company and Old Caz are shaking up the beer scene for SF Beer Week with a one-of-a-kind partnership: Cazunitas. This unique collaboration brings together two beloved Sonoma County breweries to create a remarkable IPA experience. Both crafted with identical ingredients at 7.3% ABV, each beer showcases a distinct interpretation of the same concept, resulting in an exciting celebration of creativity, innovation, and, above all, a shared passion for keeping beer fun.
“Our collaboration with Old Caz was a natural fit—not just because we’re fans, family, and like-minded brewing aficionados, but because we both came up scrappy and try to carry that spirit forward in everything we do,” said Jeremy Marshall, Head Brew Monster for Lagunitas Brewing Company. “This 100% oat-brewed experiment pays homage to our joint unconventional, fun, and innovative roots while giving a nod to our beautiful backyard of Sonoma County. And most importantly, not taking ourselves too seriously in the process.”
The Cazunitas collaboration will launch in conjunction with SF Beer Week (February 21 – March 2). Multiple events will celebrate the launch, including a series of tastings at various bars and venues in Petaluma and Santa Rosa, culminating with the big celebration event—the Cazunitas TapRooms Release Party, on Saturday, March 1, from 12-8 p.m.
Guests can enjoy events at the Lagunitas Brewing Company and Old Caz taprooms, compliments of a brewery shuttle taking attendees between locations throughout the day. There will be live music, brewer talks, and a special can release. Cazunitas will be one part of Old Caz’s nine days of SF Beer Week events.
“Lagunitas isn’t just a brewery—it’s part of our story. As Sonoma State alums, we drank it, admired it, and were inspired to brew because of it,” said Tom Edwards, Co-Founder of Old Caz Beer. “Watching Lagunitas become the #1 IPA in the world showed us what’s possible. We’re continuing this spirit with the Cazunitas collaboration—no pinkies-up stuffiness, just innovative brewing inspired by our region. Lagunitas set the bar in craft in many ways; coming together to make this beer is a dream come true for us.”
Created collaboratively by Lagunitas Brewing Company and Old Caz Beer, this never-been-dared before, 100% oat-infused, silky-bodied, resin-dripping beer shouldn’t exist. Yet, against all odds, it does, thanks to two determined breweries that came together to craft a beer as bold as their shared origin stories.
