Karl Strauss to Host ‘Karl’s House Party’ Series to Celebrate 35 Years

Karl Strauss, San Diego’s longest continuously operating post-Prohibition brewing company, will host the Karl’s House Party series in 2024 in celebration of its 35th anniversary. The series includes four events – March 27 at the San Diego Sorrento Mesa brewpub, April 18 at the Anaheim brewpub, June 6 at The Outpost San Marcos beer garden in San Diego’s North County, and September 19 at the Downtown San Diego brewpub. Chief Experience Officer Jen Briggs made the announcement.

Tickets for the Sorrento Mesa House Party are available here for $99, while tickets for Anaheim are available here for $89 (the price will increase to $99 on April 6).

The Outpost San Marcos event will be a free, non-ticketed open house. Details are forthcoming, as well as for the ticketed Downtown San Diego event.

Ticketed guests at the Sorrento Mesa and Anaheim House Parties will enjoy four draft beers, including two exclusive barrel-aged brews that will never be tasted again, all-you-can-eat bites, and a swag bag that includes a bottle of the 35th Anniversary Barrel Aged Weizenbock, a limited-edition pint glass, and more.

Karl Strauss Executive Chef Gunther Emathinger and Regional Chef Corey Rapp, who have both been with the brewery for more than 20 years, present a food menu for the events that feature Spicy Ahi Poke, Beer Sausage Skewers, Firecracker Sirloin Strips, Beer-Brined Pork Chops, Drunken Shrimp, award-winning MAC On Tap (mac ‘n cheese), Beeramisu, and more.

The Sorrento Mesa brewpub is located at 9675 Scranton Road, and the Anaheim brewpub is located at 2390 East Orangewood Ave, adjacent to Angel Stadium. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. at both locations.

91X FM Radio, a longtime partner of Karl Strauss, will broadcast live from the Sorrento Mesa event. Brewmaster Paul Segura and Co-Founder/CEO Chris Cramer will be on hand telling stories of the past and present, along with a look into the future. It was with the help of Cramer’s cousin Master Brewer Karl M. Strauss that on February 2, 1989, Karl Strauss Brewing Company first opened its doors on Columbia Street in downtown San Diego.

The Anaheim event will feature appearances by Cramer and Beer Division Chief Operating Officer Chad Heath.

“It’s an extraordinary time for Karl Strauss beer and its fans old and new,” Briggs said. “As we embark on the next 35 years, it’s important for us to celebrate the history of Karl as San Diego’s OG craft brewery while looking ahead at the ways we can continue making connections through craft in Southern California and beyond.”

Last summer, Karl Strauss was voted as one of San Diego’s Best Craft Breweries in The San Diego Union-Tribune’s 2023 Readers Poll. Only 10 made the list. Karl Strauss has won 128 medals in various brewing competitions over the last 15 years.
