Vanderbilt University and Nashville-based, alumni-founded Jackalope Brewing are excited to announce the creation of Conquer and Prevail, the first-ever officially licensed and co-crafted beer of the Commodores.
Named for Vanderbilt’s Alma Mater and celebrating the spirit of Vanderbilt Athletics, Conquer and Prevail is a custom-brewed pale ale. At 5% ABV, it features a light, biscuity malt flavor with a citrus and stonefruit aroma.
“The people at Jackalope have been terrific to collaborate with on this project,” said Candice Storey Lee, Vanderbilt vice chancellor for athletics and university affairs and athletic director. “As we continue to enhance the fan experience in our venues and connect with our fans outside of our campus footprint, we see the rollout of Conquer and Prevail Pale Ale as a fun and highly visible part of that effort.”
Jackalope was founded by Bailey Spaulding, a Vanderbilt Law School alumna who has been a pioneer in the Nashville craft beer scene since the brewery’s founding in 2009. In May 2011, Spaulding opened the doors to Jackalope’s first taproom, and all operations now run out of their Houston Street location, The Ranch, which opened in 2018 just over a mile away from the Vanderbilt campus.
“We wanted to connect and build a sense of community—not just among Vanderbilt fans, but with everyone in the Nashville area,” Spaulding said. “No matter our backgrounds, we can come together over a great-tasting beer, and we encourage everyone to enjoy the experience responsibly.”
Conquer and Prevail is now available at The Ranch and will be sold at Vanderbilt athletic events beginning with the Aug. 31 home football opener against Virginia Tech. By mid-September, the co-crafted beer will be stocked by Middle Tennessee Kroger locations, and later in the fall it will be available to purchase from JackalopeBrew.com for shipping direct to consumers in 45 states.
Vanderbilt and Jackalope worked closely to develop this partnership with athletics multimedia rights holder Vanderbilt Sports Properties, the locally based team of Learfield—the media and technology company powering college athletics—and CLC, a division of Learfield and Vanderbilt’s exclusive trademark licensing agent.
“We’re excited to bring Vanderbilt and Jackalope together to provide fans with a terrific product from a local brand,” Vanderbilt Sports Properties General Manager Jeff Miller said. “We look forward to seeing cans of Conquer and Prevail throughout FirstBank Stadium and the Nashville community.”
