Grey Sail & Outer Light Announce Collaboration Beer as Outer Light Marks 10th Anniversary

Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island (Grey Sail) and Outer Light Brewing Company (Outer Light) jointly announced their first collaboration beer, Step Sisters, since their partnership began earlier this year. Step Sisters is a bold hop-forward India Pale Ale (IPA) bursting with citrus, pine and smooth bitterness. The 16oz beer will be available in Connecticut and Rhode Island beginning next week.

“Brewing Step Sisters was the perfect way to kick off this new chapter for Grey Sail and Outer Light combining our shared passion and creativity — and it shows in the beer,” said Carey Niekrash Beralderi, Director of Sales and Marketing at Grey Sail Brewing Company and Outer Light. “The bold citrus and pine notes from the hops really shine, balanced by a smooth bitterness that keeps you coming back for another sip. It’s a true collaboration — not just in process, but in flavor.”

Outer Light, founded in 2015, has become a staple in the local community. To celebrate their 10th anniversary, they brewed Hoppy Beerdaym. Bursting with bright citrus from Citra hops, this New England style IPA is layered with sweet orange zest and a touch of creamy vanilla, creating a classic creamsicle flavor.

Beer lovers can get a first try of Hoppy Beerday at Outer Light’s anniversary party on Saturday, April 12th from 12-9 p.m.

Outer Light continues to offer four year-round brews including Lonesome Boatman™ Ale, Libation Propaganda™ Coffee Stout, SUBduction™ IPA and Cloudbreak™ Double IPA, as well as several seasonal beers.

Grey Sail acquired Outer Light to enhance their regional portfolio of craft beer and spirits in January. The two brands share a commitment to the local community, quality products and sustainability.
Founded in 2011, Grey Sail’s lineup of ten core beers, led by Captain’s Daughter™ Double IPA, are offered in retail stores, bars and restaurants in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey. Four years ago, they founded South Country Distillers, a craft distillery, offering spirits made from grain to glass on their Westerly campus.
