The FX Matt (Saranac) Brewery, in Utica, NY, a renowned leader in the brewing industry, has announced the acquisition of ‘Merican Mule, a pioneering spirits-based ready-to-drink cocktail company that cans Moscow Mule cocktails. This acquisition marks another significant milestone in FX Matt’s ongoing expansion in the burgeoning ready-to-drink cocktail market.
‘Merican Mule, based in Norwalk, Connecticut, has distinguished itself in crafting high-quality Moscow Mule cocktails, a cocktail which according to Nielsen IQ, ranks as the second most ordered cocktail on-premise in the United States. The brand’s diverse portfolio includes Mule cocktail variations made with vodka, tequila, rum, and bourbon, resonating strongly with a passionate consumer base. Currently distributed across 18 states in thousands of retailers, ‘Merican Mule’s acquisition by FX Matt is set to dramatically increase its distribution and brand presence.
The latest acquisition follows FX Matt’s successful integration of Flying Dog Brewery, Maryland’s largest craft brewery by volume, earlier this year. The addition of ‘Merican Mule to FX Matt’s portfolio underscores the company’s strategic vision to broaden its reach in high-growth, emerging channels and reinforces its position as a legacy brand looking to drive innovation in new ways.

The addition of ‘Merican Mule compliments the division’s existing brand, Right Coast Vodka & Margarita Whips cocktails and new Italian Ice, positioning Right Coast Spirits as a leading player in the RTD segment.
