Minnesota Frost star forward Kelly Pannek has collaborated with Fulton Brewing to release her very own “Been There Won That” Ale (5% ABV), celebrating Pannek’s four-title athletic career and supporting hockey inclusivity.
A portion of proceeds will benefit Mosaic Hockey Collective, a Minnesota non-profit focused on building an inclusive hockey community and empowering players of color with skills, resources, and positive experiences to grow and give back to the game.
“Fulton’s Sweet Child of Vine was the first IPA I enjoyed with my family when I turned 21, so the opportunity to collaborate with one of my favorite breweries to craft a beer that elevates women’s hockey and supports inclusivity for players of color is a project I’m extremely proud to spearhead,” said Pannek. She and Frost teammate Maddie Rooney actively support Mosaic and other youth-focused charities, donating tickets and hosting meet-and-greets after every regular-season home game.
The beer’s name was inspired by Pannek’s membership in the coveted Quadruple Gold Club, reserved for athletes who’ve won four titles at the highest levels. For Pannek, that list includes the Olympic Gold, an IIHF Women’s World Championship, a PWHL Walter Cup, and an NCAA Division I National Championship title. Influenced by Fulton’s Lonely Blonde Ale, the pink-hued championship brew packs a punch of mixed berry fruit on the nose and finishes drinkably crisp and clean. It will be available throughout the 2024-25 PWHL season.
“It’s a huge honor for Fulton to celebrate Kelly’s incredible contributions to Minnesota’s rich history of producing insanely talented female athletes,” added Holly Manthei, Fulton’s vice president of marketing. “Breweries are known for bringing people together over a pint, and we brewed this beer for all who watch, play, support, defend, and uplift the visibility and accessibility of hockey in Minnesota.”
Pannek will host a launch party on Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 5-7 p.m. at A Bar of Their Own, the Twin Cities’ first sports bar that exclusively televises women’s sports. The event will feature meet-and-greets with Pannek and her Minnesota Frost teammates as well as ticket giveaways to the Frost’s Dec. 19 game against the Ottawa Charge.
For the remainder of the 2024-25 PWHL season “Been There Won That” will be available on draft and in crowlers at Fulton’s taproom and at select Twin Cities locations. Contact Fulton Brewery for details.
