Schlafly Offers 3 Ways to Toast National Pumpkin Day on October 26

Schlafly Beer now offers three ways to enjoy the favorite flavor of the season: pumpkin. While The Saint Louis Brewery’s award-winning Pumpkin Ale has been a seasonal staple for years, now, consumers can also enjoy the brewery’s Pumpkin Stout in a new 750 ml bottle format as part of the Cellar Series. In addition, Schlafly introduces for the first time, Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale, the latest from the From The Ibex Cellar Series, the brewery’s premium program that was introduced this year. All three styles of pumpkin beer are available beginning this week.

Founding Brewer Stephen Hale explains, “When you have such a great base beer, such as our Pumpkin Ale, it’s fun to experiment with it to create something new. While Pumpkin Stout was a happy accident, our Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale has been a dream for some time and our first foray into aging in rum barrels.”

Pumpkin Ale / ABV: 8.0% and IBU: 16: Schlafly’s Special Release Pumpkin Ale is well-balanced from start to finish, with notes of caramel and ginger throughout. The beer is fermented in pounds of fresh pumpkin squash as well as a brewer’s wort and sugar mix before being filtered through a spiced infusion of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. It turns out exactly how the brewers intend it to taste: like a slice of pumpkin pie in a bottle. Available across Schlafly’s distribution network; suggested retail price of $10.99

Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale (From The Ibex Cellar) / ABV: 9.5% IBU: 16: New to Schlafly’s portfolio this year as part of the “From The Ibex Cellar” series of exclusive, big, hand-crafted beers, the Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Stout offers a bold new way to enjoy the seasonal favorite. Schlafly ages their Pumpkin Ale for several months in rum barrels to bring forward notes of molasses, brown sugar, raisins and endless character from the oak barrels. These flavors combined with the rich, sweet, spicy, full-bodied elements of the Pumpkin Ale make this a sought-after fall seasonal sipper. The “From The Ibex Cellar” was a year and a half in the making and features six bold hand-crafted beers from the Ibex Cellar, the exclusive room beneath the historic Schlafly Tap Room in downtown St. Louis. The packaging mimics the striking architecture of the Tap Room’s building from the pitches and peaks to the arches that hold up the cellar below. A typeface from the 1900s, discovered by one of the Schlafly designers in the St. Louis Public Library archives, inspired the exclusive design for the label and packaging. Limited distribution; suggested retail price $17.99

Pumpkin Stout (Cellar Series) / ABV: 6.8% IBU: 20: The recipe is the result of an improvisational union between two of our most popular beers, which created the Pumpkin Stout—balanced and smooth, with the perfect ratio of spice to roasted sweetness. While at a beer festival and quickly running out of our seasonal Pumpkin Ale, our ambassadors began mixing it with Oatmeal Stout to prolong the supply. Their creation turned out to be a huge hit and soon became an intentional brew, officially debuting at 2011’s HOP in the City. Limited distribution; suggested retail price $11.99
